My Story


Even as a single mother of four children, struggling to make ends meet, my mother still managed to find time to help other widowed or single-parent families in our church. I’m sure this is why giving back is so important to me. Even though my father left us when I was young, I looked after his care for 15-years following a motorcycle accident he had when I was 17-years old that left him brain-injured. While he was in the hospital, an ambulance-chaser convinced him to sign a legal contract that would have awarded a law firm a large percentage of the insurance settlement to which he was entitled. This was my first lesson about the importance of legal contracts and also a sad reminder that there are people who take advantage of others while they are down.

During my 30-year career as an Insurance Claims Adjuster, I helped thousands of property owners with their insurance claim when they suffered damage. I quickly realized that most people are not sure of what to do in this situation and often make rash decisions. I saw many property owners hire bad contractors because they were feeling overwhelmed and were in a vulnerable state of mind. I realized that far too many people don’t know where to find good contractors when they have emergency damage. With my insurance adjusting background, I understand the importance of knowing which contractors to hire so the work is done right, is done quickly and that proper procedures are followed.

I started to see an increasing trend with contractors paying plumbers to refer their companies and then these contractors would take advantage of homeowners by overcharging for their services and placing liens on the property when they weren’t paid. Others were taken advantage of when they would call 911 because their property had a water leak or fire damage. Ambulance chasers (called Public Adjusters) would listen in on the scanner radio call and would take a cut of their insurance claim settlement while also making behind the scenes deals with contractors to line their pockets even more.

After seeing this increase and so many taken advantage of by contractors, I decided to put together a network of qualified, reputable and trustworthy contractors.
